With all the havoc being caused by the COVID-19 crisis there has been a big problem for some employers to get sanitizers out to their employees. The employers need sanitizers to clean their workplaces to assure that the employees don’t pick up the virus.
Business Representatives Jason Ross and Dan DiGiovanni received numerous calls from employers and members to see what they could do to help. The Agents then contacted Local 879 President John McCann to see if he had any ideas that could help with the situation.
President McCann suggested checking with Merchants Paper in Windsor. Merchants Paper is a company that has been under contract with Teamsters since 1961. They supply various restaurants, casinos, retirement homes and businesses with all the daily supplies they need, including sanitizer. So Dan jumped into action and was able to get 2 large industrial sized concentrated sanitizers which came with a wall mount so that you could fill numerous bottles. Jason then made the trek to Windsor and grabbed one of the sanitizers. The 2 of them then went and bought over 400 refillable spray bottles to fill and drop off at various locations under contract with the Local. They had so much left over that they bought more bottles, filled them up and started giving them out at other locations.
I applaud the guys for going that extra mile during these times.
