Congratulations to steward Glenn Edgley on his retirement
Glenn started his Teamster career in 1975 while working at Canadian Racing Plate in Niagara Falls. Glenn has been a proud Teamster member for 45 years. When CRP closed its doors, Glenn had to give thought to what career was next for him. He went and got his bus licence and started to work for Coventry Connections in Niagara as a Black Car driver then onto shuttle/bus driver.
Coventry Connections is a transportation company that offers limo, black car, party bus and shuttle service within the Niagara Region. With times changing and speaking with fellow drivers about unanswered concerns within the workplace, in early 2018 Glenn contacted Local 879 organizer Jim Killey to learn about organizing their workplace. A campaign began and the group were soon certified union.
Voted as one of two stewards, Glenn was picked to serve on the first ever negotiating committee working on a first contract. The agreement was ratified in June of 2018 and the rest, as they say, is history.
Glenn, from all of us at 879, all the best in your retirement and from me, your Business Representative and organizer, thanks for all your help with the organizing campaign and all you have done for the membership.
You will truly be missed.
In solidarity,
Jim
