SENT ON BEHALF OF TEAMSTERS JOINT COUNCIL NO. 52 PRESIDENT, CRAIG MCINNES:
Dear Sister and Brothers,
Upon hearing of our Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce’s intent to invoke the notwithstanding clause to quash a Labour dispute with this province’s educational workers, I felt compelled to write Mr. Lecce a letter advising of our position in this matter. As the largest Labour union of our country we are completely opposed to such actions and must unveil this government’s failure to uphold the bargaining process – a pillar of our democratic society.
Please see the attached letter sent to the Minister of Education, Teamsters Canada (posted on the Teamsters Canada website) and CUPE.
We remain steadfast in our fight for workers’ rights to a decent living wage and working conditions. And we stand with our Brothers and Sisters represented by CUPE through this fight.
In solidarity,
Craig McInnes
